Senior Portraits

The initial inspiration for this series came when I was trying to explore different undertones and colors within the human face. I wanted to experiment with different color schemes to see how they would affect the appearance of the face and the overall composition. I chose older adults as my subjects, because I found that their mature skin possessed so much natural color. coloration. I wanted to exaggerate those natural hues, tones, and shades and let the colors I created capture the essence of the individuals.

Hyperrealism in art has been one of the more dominate styles recently, and my subjects were less than excited to see themselves through my interpretive lenses. They questioned whether these paintings were the best representations of them.  I invite the viewer to judge the compositions as standalone pieces rather than replicas of photos.
